Ventured Out...

Well, I ventured out yesterday! Yeah, not too bad. I did get tired grocery shopping. I also visted Beth and Isaiah for awhile before coming home. It was nice to get out!

We still have quite a bit of snow here, but it is going to warm up, so it will probably get nasty with lots of mud to track in. But, we've had our nice big snow and pretty cold winter weather so I'm ready for Spring even the mud.

I bought my white kitten, Snowflake, a nice red collar with a bell, so as soon as it is fit, I can introduce her to the great outdoors. I am going to get Mittens, my fluffy gray cat, a collar with a bell also. She is my favorite outside cat that I let in to eat everyday. That will make both of them easy to find as well as let others know that they are someones pets. Lauryn gave me Mittens as a kitten a few years ago. It must be something about grandchildren. The gray cat is from Lauryn and the white cat is from Kinsey & Caden. I wonder if there are more? ;)

The Canadian Geese were here before the last big snow, but left, so maybe they will be back soon. I'm going to be looking for that red robin soon. How about you? ;)

Tell You What...

I'll tell you what...I picked up the flu bug about a week ago and it has been one bad trip. Those that know me well, know that I am one of those wash your hands, use the paper towel, turn the door knob with the inside of your jacket or shirt kind of gals. I use disinfectant wet wipes to wash off the grocery carts if they aren't provided by the store. The only thing that I can say is that I didn't have wet wipes my last two store visits and the store didn't provide them. Lesson learned. I could have gotten this virus somewhere else, but I've been pretty much staying in and enjoying the white winter. "Global warming go away, never come here to stay!" lol :) Just when these green peace neaks think they get their global warming, it snows all over the world in some of the most unlikely countries. God has control. I just love it, but that is another story. :) See, I told you that I was on the mend.

But, this flu has been a bad one. One day I just didn't know if I'd make it, for sure. Now, it just seems to be dragging on. I cough, cough and cough, but I am feeling better. Those of us who have had lung problems all our life just have to watch and be more careful. I'll just try not to have a set back, but folks, if it's fit tomorrow, I'm going out! :)

Oh, yes, Dr. Dad, my dad, has me on the vinegar and honey remedy. Yes, it does work and help! He's doctoring from phone conversations and giving me helpful advice. So far, every bit of advice he has given has worked. My parents use a lot of old remedies that have been handed down probably from generation to generation. Some may call them herbal or folk remedies, but if you're not too sick they seem to work. I usually try these remedies before going to the doctor and it has saved me thousands of dollars. :) Dad is 82 and mom is 78, they both work at doing all they can to have good health even though they do have inherited health problems. They just keep plugging on. Dad just loves it when his advice works. I can see the pleased look in his voice over the phone. (That's in my minds eye, of course!) ;)

Enjoy the day, we have a beautiful snow here!

Checking In

It is still snowing but now it is mostly snow flurries. I measured the snow and we have 5" here in our area. Well, it is a big beautiful snow, and I am pleased.

If it doesn't get windy, I might try to go out and sow my wild flower seed. With the snow I will know where it is and how well I got it spread around. This is also a good time to sow grass seed if you need to reseed. The snow which melts from top to bottom will deposit the seed on the ground. The biggest problem for this type of sowing is if the birds eat the seed before it is covered by more snow or is melted into the ground. I would suggest planting just before dark if it is not windy. Hey, it's worth the try!

We're On Our Way...

Yes, we're on our way for a nice big snowfall. I just got in from shoveling the front walk and it looks like a good 4" and it is still coming down nicely. The wind is not blowing here and it feels comfortable to be out.It is just beautiful and peaceful this morning! I just love it!!!

Old Pictures of Our Boys

I found these old pictures of the boys yesterday when I was going through old pictures. It's fun to look through the old pictures and go over the old memories. Some of our grandchildren are now the ages of our children in these old pictures, time sure does fly!

Boys making cookies & in the garden. (70')
The boys on their bikes. (80's)

I hope my children enjoy these pictures and the memories that they bring! They will for sure remember the baskets of green beans and corn that they harvested!!!

Just Getting Back

I'm just getting to another posting. It is just after midnight and I couldn't sleep. Not sure why. I decided to get up and post. So I am sitting here sipping my Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea. It has some awesome ingredients in it like chamomile, rose, spearmint, & lemongrass etc. All the good stuff for you.

I have been looking at old photos and memories are just coming in so fast, one right after another. Have you ever had that happen to you? Pictures just remind you of so many people and so many stories. Maybe in the next few weeks, I can share a few of the stories. I just don't want to think of them all night long. But, that happens sometimes.

I don't know what it is, but I'm have been having trouble with the spell check on this site. I did hear someone else mention that they were having trouble with the spell check also. Lately, it just will not work for me. Sometimes I will write in word and use their spell check and then do a copy/paste over here, but not very often. Anyway, hopefully, everything is spelled right. I try to check it over good, but sometimes I miss the error until after I post it.

Well, I think that this is it for the night. The tea is working and it is time to sign out. :)

Different Kind of Day

I've changed what I was going to write about this morning so many times because it's just a different kind of day.

I was going to tell you about a dream, then I was going to discuss the weather, then I was going to discuss the geese and finally I was going to discuss baking bread. W...e...l...l...,let's see where this goes. Oh yes, that w...e...l...l..., is a private family joke and they will know what I mean. :)

Let's take care of last weeks business first and then we can go from there...

I'm sad... I was so looking forward to that 10" of snow that the weather man was promising us. They just like to build us up for a let down. l0l Seriously, I wanted that pinned in and rest feeling. Well...you just can't trust the weather man. On the neat side, I like to see the Lord show that He decides what comes and goes. So, there is always to sunny side of the story!

Yes, we have 5 February birthdays! We have 5 in December and July also. Big families mean lots of birthdays and anniversaries. They are fun, but they are hard to keep up with when trying to get pictures together for a blog slide. I am using the birthdays to update my picture files and try to get folders on all my family members for future use. After I get through everyone, I'm n0t sure I will continue to do the slide shows. I may just use a single picture, but that is another story.

Last, but not least is the Seniors Banquet was very nice. Our young people's group went all out and had a nice meal. There was a big turnout and the food was great! Our pastors wife gave a nice talk and we did a heart, decorating, cookie activity to go along with her talk. We old folks like to do creative things too! :)

I'm getting too long, so I will come back later for some more up to day thoughts!
God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.”
I Thessalonians 4:7

"That He might present it to Himself, a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be HOLY and without blemish.." Ephesians 5:27

Holiness Unto The Lord

“Called unto holiness,” church of our God,
Purchase of Jesus, redeemed by His blood;
Called from the world and its idols to flee,
Called from the bondage of sin to be free.

“Holiness unto the Lord” is our watchword and song.
“Holiness unto the Lord” as we’re marching along.
Sing it, shout it, loud and long,
“Holiness unto the Lord,” now and forever.

“Called unto holiness,” children of light,
Walking with Jesus in garments of white;
Raiment unsullied, nor tarnished with sin;
God’s Holy Spirit abiding within.

“Called unto holiness,” praise His dear Name!
This blessèd secret to faith now made plain:
Not our own righteousness, but Christ within,
Living, and reigning, and saving from sin.

“Called unto holiness,” bride of the Lamb,
Waiting the Bridegroom’s returning again!
Lift up your heads, for the day draweth near
When in His beauty the King shall appear

Valentine's Day

As we celebrate Valentine's Day today, I want to share the following old, old poem with you. Don't forget to let the one that you love know what they mean to you. Whether it be with a nice dinner, candy or flowers, be sure to say "I love You!"

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways…

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs,and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Worship His Majesty

Majesty

Majesty, worship His Majesty,
Unto Jesus, be all glory, honor and praise!
Majesty, kingdom authority, flows from His throne,
Unto His own, His anthem raise.

So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus the King.
Majesty, worship His Majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.

Fun Day

Today was a fun day. I was looking through some old recipes and found several that were from old family and friends. Of course, Merrill said most of them were dead. But, that is part of the fun of making old recipes. I made some dumplings, which are little squares of rolled dough that you drop in chicken broth. My Grandmother Mullins, Mom's mother, made those for family outings years ago. My Grandmother Phillips & Grandmother Mullins both made great biscuits like Cracker Barrel. Grandmother Phillips made awesome pies and cakes and Grandmother Mullins made these great little apple turnovers out of dried apples.

Mom makes a great Southern meal of soup beans with ham pieces, hoe cakes, fried potatoes, beets, onions and a great peach cobbler. That's a meal that I grew up with and eat on a regular basis, with different variations, at their house. You just don't get tired of it!Oh, yes, one last entry - I made panoche fudge today, also. My mom made it a lot when I was a little girl. It is made with brown sugar, milk, butter & nuts. Now, that was fun!

Happy Birthday Carson

Know God Personally

John 3:15-17
16 For God so loved the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world, that he should condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

John 17:3
3 And this is life eternal, that they know thee to be the only very God, and whom thou hast sent, Jesus Christ.

Something to think about: God wants us to know Him personally. He wants to cleanse our heart from sin and change our lives. He wants our worship, love and devotion. He will meet with us daily in prayer and speak to us through His word, in pray and in worship.

Bigger Than Any Mountain

Today, I was thinking of a song that was sang at my sister-in-laws funeral, Tuesday, Bigger Than Any Mountain. God is bigger than all our problems, mountains or anything that comes across our way. We certainly find out that this is true when the really hard things in life happen. We rise every morning, not knowing what we will face. Sometimes bad things happen, but we can have the comfort of knowing that God is bigger than anything we face.

Bigger Than Any Mountain

Bigger than all the shadows that fall across my path,
God is bigger than any mountain that I can or can not see.
He's bigger than all the confusion, bigger than anything;
God is bigger than any mountain that I can or can not see.

He's bigger than all the giants of pain and unbelief;
God is bigger than any mountain that I can or can not see.
He's bigger than any discouragement, bigger than anything;
My God is bigger than any mountain that I can or can not see.

He's bigger than all my problems, bigger than all my fears;
God is bigger than any mountain that I can or can not see.
Oh, yes, he's bigger than all my question, bigger than anything;
God is bigger than any mountain that I can or can not see.

Cottage Fireplace

This is one of Merrill's projects. We had an old fireplace mantle that we took out when we put in our new wood floor. We decided not to put the old mantle back in and instead we put in a stone fireplace. I call this my Cottage Fireplace since it looks like some of those in the Kincade pictures. I just love it and I'm so happy that it is done. Merrill and I laid it out and one night Steve, our son, came and worked on it with him. Merrill finished the fireplace yesterday. It was a fun and pretty project.
