Today, we light the first purple candle which represents hope. We light this candle to represent the hope of the world which is Jesus Christ.

Today, the first purple candle in the advent wreath is lit. Three purple candles and one pink candle are used in the wreath. The white candle can be used in the center and lit Christmas day to represent the Christ child. The purpose is to prepare our hearts and minds for the remembrance of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
