Enjoying The Fall...

The last two days have been great and I am enjoying the Fall weather. I'm not too much for extreme hot, but when we have temperature drops like we did on Labor Day, I usually get sick. I sure did, but I am starting to feel lots better.

It has been a nice spring & summer. We got off to a rainy start so the garden planting and harvesting was late, but it has come around and the girls and I have done quite well. They were able to pick up some more produce from others who had finished with their gardens and have added to their pantries.

So, far I've got my strawberries and some other berries, peaches, corn and green beans done for the year. I haven't done any tomatoes yet, but I hope to get some done this week. Beth & Amy have been busy making salsa with their tomatoes. As always, it is fun and rewarding to put food away for the year.

Today since it was nice and warm out, I decided to work on my storage building. I didn't know if I would be able to since I've had bronchitis, but I moved some of the gardening things out to make more room for my clothing bins. I am putting the summer things away & getting the fall out. It is fun to look at the decorations & things that I will be using soon.

Speaking of decorations, I can't wait to decorate for Christmas, but I like decorating for Fall also. I love my seasons and all that go with them. I just thought I'd add the squirrel picture because they are good at storing things for winter. :)

Well that's about it for what's going on at my house today...

Prayer For Our Nation...

Our Father and Our God, we praise You for Your goodness to our nation, giving us blessings far beyond what we deserve. Yet we know all is not right with America. We deeply need a moral and spiritual renewal to help us meet the many problems we face. Convict us of sin. Help us to turn to You in repentance and faith. Set our feet on the path of Your righteousness and peace. We pray today for our nation's leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to do it. You have said, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." May this be a new era for America, as we humble ourselves and acknowledge You alone as our Savior and Lord. This we pray in Your holy name, Amen.--- Billy Graham

If My People Pray ... A Prayer For America

Pray For Our Country...

Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer...

Years ago I heard a song that had the words about the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. The last couple of weeks could almost fit that description around here. I don't know that it's crazy because it's a typical July, but the flurry of events at such a h0t time might fit that category. :)

Today, the factor was over 100 degree, so I thought it was a good time to get some bookwork done and pay the bills.

Amy, Kinsey and I worked in the garden at around 8:30. It was a nice time to work. Definitely not very humid, but it was still around 90 degree. Amy picked the few beans that were on and we watered the garden.

Tomorrow, I plant to wash clothes early and hang them out. That helps keep the house cool.

Well, that's about it for a hot, humid July day.

Have a great evening!

I thought this might be fitting since we have this big "Debt Debate"! While we are waiting for the leaders to try to straighten out our financial mess and get us on a budget... let's be thankful we are Americans!

Where Have I Been?

Well... I guess it really doesn't matter where I have been. What matters is... I am back!

Like so many readers, I've just been working and doing my thing. What's "my thing"? Well, my thing is being with family, grandchildren, gardening plus various work activities.

Unfortunately, there just wasn't time for blogging or writing. But, hopefully, I can take more time to share the goings on of the Lavy Family.

Have a great day and great week!

Trying To Get It Together...

Where O where did I put that work calendar? I am trying to get it together and keep everything written down in the calendar... if I don't... I make mistakes! I have to have my calendar & I put it somewhere when I was cleaning. That is not good.

Remember when things were slower? Remember, those of you who are older, when you thought your life would slow down when the kids were grown? It just doesn't work that way does it. Sometime, I feel like I'm on a rollo coaster. I guess the good thing about a rollo coaster is that it slows down & stops at some point. I don't need it to stop... I just need it to slow down. The good thing is that I do not feel nearly as tired as I did yesterday."Perhaps the best thing about the future is that it comes just one day at a time." -unknown

Maybe the weather is affecting my feelings! lol!

Possibly, A Slower Week...

This will be, possibly, a slower week, but you never know!

Last week, my daughter Amy and her children Kinsey & Caden were in from out of state. It was quite busy trying to fit everything in with lots of running, babysitting as well as my other work that I had to do.

By Saturday night, I was exhausted! Of course, the time change a couple weeks ago didn't help. It takes me a while to get use to losing that one hr of sleep. It sure would be nice if they would just leave it at one time or another. Thought... maybe they could just compromise and move it to the half hr and leave it for good. That might make everybody happy, but then again... not!

Well, it's early Monday morning and I'm up and at it!

Have a great day!

The Lord Is Our Righteousness...

"If there is a difference of opinion, where is our religion, if we cannot think and let think?" -John Wesley

I ran across this quote from John Wesley that I thought was worth sharing today. This is taken from John Wesley's sermon, "The Lord Is Our Righteousness" preached at the Chapel in West-Street, Seven Dials, Sunday, November 24, 1765.

We're On A Roll...

Well, we're on a roll... tomato seed planting roll that is. Today, Brett, Breanna and I planted tomato seeds. Another fun time in the dirt! The seeds are planted and everyone is happy.

Brett had to run and try to find the big fat rabbit that was in our flower bed after we got here . The rabbit was just too fast.

Breanna had to have her tea party, so we got out the tea set, punch and cookies. The we watched the Cheaper by The Dozen dvd. I think everyone was tired from the days activities.
For now, I am having to borrow pictures from my children's sites to post. I am going to have to get a new digital camera. My camera, which I really, really liked, has a broken piece. I am researching what type of camera I want to get. I have an older digital that I may try to get up and running. There are just too many new things that I need to get recorded on camera. :)

This is my little disclosure in small print just like the big guys do. lol!

First Garden Planting...

Lauryn, Brooklyn & I did our first garden planting yesterday morning. That is indoors, of course. I showed them how to plant tomato seeds.

We got out our little pots, soiless mix and seeds. I showed the girls how to fill the pot with soil, put in the seeds and water. They wanted to leave them at my house and come check on them every week. So that's the plan for now. Part of the fun is watching them peek through the soil and start to grow. After they are up and going, the girls are going to take them home. They were so excited!

It's quite an easy project and kids just love it! Next week, we're going to pick another vegetable to plant. The choices are almost endless...

Gran's Farm Animals...

I haven't mentioned this in a long time, but Gran's Farm Animals to the left of this blog is a fun activity for the young (and young at heart).

Isaiah & Sophia, two of my youngest grandchildren played and fed my animals for about 45 min to an hr. last evening. They loved them. I hope you and yours do to. That is the reason I leave them up.

Why Can't We Drill For Oil...

I have posted Genisis 1 from the KJB which explains the creation of the world and everything in it. My question is this... If God says man has dominion over everything God created in the air, on land, in the sea and the earth... Why can't we drill for oil?

God made the oil, the coal, the gas just like the wind and the sun. Why do a bunch of environmentalist & congressmen have control over what God has given us to use? God didn't give it to us to be buried and kept for .... what reason?

God knew we needed heat and fuel. He knew we would have homes, automobiles, ships and planes. As man grew in wisdom God showed men how His natural resources could be used to better mankind. He knew that oil would meet our needs. He knew that the drilling of this oil would benefit states and our country as well as others. He knew that if America drilled the world supply would be a fair price because of competition.

Yes, solar can be put to good use and maybe wind, but we know that oil, gas and coal are good reliable sources that are present for use right now. We just need a few wise men and women with power in the government to let our people drill for what God gave us to use.

We only have one God and it is His oil and He said we could use it. I think we have a lot to pray about and encourage our leaders to do something about.
Genesis 1 KJV

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
9And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13And the evening and the morning were the third day.
14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Praising The Lord...

I loved the Jews for Jesus singing this song and praising the Lord. I don't know about you but I find it so uplifting esp. if you get into it. I get into it and sing and clap my hands.

Blessings to you today...

The Liberated Wailing Wall - The Trees of The Field (עצי השׂדה ימחאו־כף)

This may be the last time I can use the snow flakes for awhile. Friday, might have been the last big snow of the season. We'll see. Anyway, we know that Spring is just around the corner.

With all the snow & ice that we've had this year, our pond is back up. It really got low when it didn't rain very much last summer and fall. Good to see it up.

This morning I woke to the sounds of the ducks on the pond. That's when we really know Spring is close. The ducks and geese come back. I always look forward to seeing them.

The only downside to spring... MUD! Boy, do we have mud. That I can do without, but it is a part of it. We'll manage. We always do!

March 20, 2011 is the first day of Spring. I'm officially ready!!!

Have a great day... look at some garden catalogs & plan a garden even if it's only in a pot or planter.

Remembering... Groundhog Day 2011 - Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, USA

Is Punxsutawney Phil right?

It is Feb 28 th & the last day of February. What do you think... is Punxsutawney Phil right? He did not see his shadow on February 2 nd, so according to Phil there should only be six more weeks of winter. Well, we've just passed the four weeks so that leaves two more weeks. We'll see...

I'll try to find a video of the actual happening to share, check back soon ...

I'm On A Roll...

I'm not trying to overwhelm you today, it just, I'm on a roll...

When I saw the Amish horses pulling the truck out of the snowy ditch, I just had to share it.

We live in an area where there are German Baptist that drive buggies. I passed on going to town this morning. They drive tractors to town sometimes, but I think they will be out driving in their buggies more this year since gas is so high. After all, they have to feed the horse anyway, so why not use it.

If gas gets any higher we'll all be driving horse and buggies. The down side is that there is no heat and air conditioning plus they are slow. The upside is you sure would slow your life down a lot. All the "road thinking" might calm the nerves.

Let's hope these new guys in congress let us drill!

Too Good To Pass Up...

This is Just Too Cute...

Winter Again...

It's winter again. We got a few glimpses of what spring would be like a few days ago. Here... where I live in Ohio, we got 6" of snow yesterday. We just got over having "thick" ice everywhere. Then a few nice days and back to snow. This is Ohio!

This week is the first that I've had a any desire to see spring. I've been looking over garden catalogs and starting to think about how I would like to design my new vegetable garden. Yes, let's get going...

I heard someone say, "a marriage is not suppose to be good. It's not a pie. It's a marriage. It's something that you work at." Never take anything for granted.

"A successful marriage is not a gift; it is an achievement." - Ann Landers

The Bible says in Proverbs 4:6-7, "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding."

Some Thoughts to Ponder...

To awake each morning with a smile brightening my face:
To greet each day with reverence for the opportunities it contains.
To approach my work with a clean mind:
To hold ever before me, even in the doing of little things,
the Ultimate Purpose to which I am working.
To meet men and women with laughter on my lips and love in my heart;
To be gentle and kind, and courteous through all the hours;
To approach the night with weariness that ever woos sleep
and the joy that comes from work well done-
This is how I desire to waste wisely my days.

Why Wonder

If radio's slim fingers
can pluck a melody
from the night and toss it over
a continent or sea;
If the petaled white notes of a violin
are blown across a mountain
or a city's din;
If songs like crimson roses
are culled from thin blue air;
Why mortals should wonder
that God hears and answers prayer.

-Ethel Romig Fuller

IN THE GARDEN ...

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus...

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus the answer to all our problems. He meets our every longing, our every need. He gives us peace in the time of trouble. He is always there for those of us who are Christians.

Stay encouraged dear friends and, if you haven't, commit your life to Christ. He is the answer to all our problems and needs.

Pray For Missionaries...

We have missionaries spreading God's word around the world. We don't always realize how much their lives are in jeopardy. Yesterday, a missionary to Mexico was killed. I know some of her relatives and feel their loss. Please pray for her family...

New Year's Resolutions...

I really didn't sit down and write out any New Year's resolutions... yet! I may or I may not, but things are running through my mind that I might share with you this first month of the year.

Here's a good one...

Be a faithful friend... everyone needs faithful friends that love and care for them. Friends that can be trusted. Life is too short to be a gossip or back biter. Besides, gossip is one of the seven things that God hates.

Read...

"16There are six things which the LORD hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, 19a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."

-Proverbs 6:16-19 (NASB)

The world would be a better place if we practiced what God's Word teaches.
Blessings for a Great New Year!

Amazing Grace

I remember my grandparents, John & Grace Phillips, singing this when I was a girl. It has always been special to me. I always remember them when we sing this in church like we did this morning.
